BOULDER, COLORADO – October 22, 2025 – VitriVax, Inc., a vaccine formulation technology company, today announced it raised a total of $17.25 million in Series B financing. The round was co-led by Adjuvant Capital and RA Capital Management, LP. Proceeds from the financing will be used for the continued development and commercialization of VitriVax’s proprietary Atomic Layering Thermostable Antigen and Adjuvant (ALTA®) technology.

BOULDER, COLORADO – October 14, 2025VitriVax, Inc., a vaccine formulation technology company, today announced it has been awarded a two-year, $9.9 million grant from the Gates Foundation. The funding will support the scale-up of VitriVax’s Atomic Layering Thermostable Antigen and Adjuvant (ALTA®) technology, enabling Phase 1-ready GMP manufacturing and advancing the platform to prepare for Phase 1 clinical trials.

Within the scope of this grant, VitriVax will work with a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) suited for early-phase clinical production. The work includes preparation and execution of manufacturing and regulatory activities in support of future clinical development of an ALTA®-enabled vaccine.

BOULDER, CO, APRIL 28, 2025 —VitriVax, Inc., a formulation technology company, announced a new grant of up to $5M from the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI). The grant will enable VitriVax to develop further the Atomic Layering Thermostable Antigen and Adjuvant (ALTA®) technology, using Rabies as a vaccine target. ALTA® could replace multi-dose vaccines for protection against infectious diseases with a single-administration alternative. The company’s innovative approach in the pharma industry, known as ‘atomic layering deposition’, is used to control the release of the vaccine in the body over time.

VitriVax is partnering with Serum Institute of India to explore whether the current three-dose Rabies vaccine, RabiVax-S, can be adapted using the ALTA® platform to provide a single-administration, thermostable next-generation Rabies vaccine. The funded research will support preclinical and scale-up studies through GLP safety-toxicity testing to determine the immunogenicity, durability, and safety of the ALTA®-formulated RabiVax-S vaccine when compared to the current standard of care. If successful, the company will prepare the vaccine candidate for Phase I trials.

“CEPI funding will accelerate the advancement of our vaccine technology, particularly its application to the rabies immunization,” said Romulo Colindres, Chief Executive Officer of VitriVax. “We believe the ALTA® platform has the potential to simplify the delivery of the vaccination by providing complete multi-dose protection in a single shot, as well as eliminate the need for cold chain storage. This is the latest vaccine project to be supported by CEPI’s call for vaccine innovations to tackle future epidemic and pandemic threats. Learnings from the research could be applied to other emerging infectious diseases that CEPI is focusing on, including a new or as-yet-identified ‘Disease X’, as well as other vaccine antigens and adjuvants.

“Receiving all the doses of protection you need in one go – with doses safely and slowly released over time – could be a game changer when it comes to effective outbreak response,” explains Dr Kent Kester, Executive Director of Vaccine Research and Development at CEPI. “As well as saving on costs, a multi-dose vaccine regimen delivered in a single shot would help ensure that more people are fully protected from a virus over time, helping to reduce the chance of repeat outbreaks and save more lives.

BOULDER, COLORADO – December 4, 2024 – VitriVax, Inc., a vaccine formulation technology company, announced today a two-year $3.6 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.  This is the second grant awarded to VitriVax by the Gates Foundation and will fund development of a polio vaccine formulation for possible inclusion in combination pediatric vaccines.

VitriVax will be applying its proprietary Atomic Layering Thermostable Antigen and Adjuvant (ALTA®) technology to new polio vaccine candidates composed of virus-like particles (VLPs) for use in future combination hexavalent vaccines. Use of VLPs as a modality in polio eradication efforts is under investigation for the next generation of polio vaccines. The ALTA® technology may facilitate the co-formulation of multiple, otherwise incompatible, antigens in a single injection.

BOULDER, COLORADO – July 19, 2023 – VitriVax, Inc., a formulation technology company, has been awarded a $29M five-year contract by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), an agency within the U.S. Department of Defense.

The overall objective of the research proposal titled “Optimization and Production of Single-Shot Vaccines for Melioidosis and Glanders” is to apply VitriVax’s single-shot and thermostabilization technology (ALTA™) to the lead B. pseudomallei (Bp) vaccine candidate, which is currently a three-dose regimen, with the goal of developing a single injection, thermostable vaccine formulation to protect against melioidosis and glanders. The project will focus on preclinical studies and development of Good Manufacturing Practice protocols, working toward an Investigational New Drug Application submission.

“We are excited about the opportunity to partner with DTRA and researchers at the University of Nevada, Reno, to bring our technology to a class of vaccines that will benefit both military personnel and the general population in regions where the disease is endemic,” said Kimberly D. VitriVax Announces Series A Financing to Further Demonstrate Feasibility of its Thermostable, Single-Dose Vaccine Technology, Aiming to Make Life-Saving Biologics Widely Accessible to Underserved Populations Globally

BOULDER, Colo.July 7, 2021  — VitriVax, developer of a novel stabilization and delivery platform for vaccines and therapeutics, today announced it has closed its first institutional financing round with Adjuvant Capital. Series A proceeds will be used to develop and commercialize a technology with the potential to eliminate barriers to global vaccine administration, extending their life-saving benefits to underserved populations and compressing multidose regimens into a single shot.

VitraVax’s Atomic Layering Thermostable Antigen and Adjuvant (ALTA™) technology platform is designed to enable the development of vaccines that can be transported and stored without complex refrigeration and temperature monitoring requirements. The platform also aims to enable full immunization with a single vaccination via timed release of antigen/adjuvant complexes weeks or months after injection.

VitriVax was formed to advance this groundbreaking technology after the concept was originally developed through a unique collaboration between Dr. Robert Garcea and Dr. Theodore Randolph at the University of Colorado, Boulder. They approached the challenges of vaccine delivery from their backgrounds in two different academic disciplines. By combining expertise in virology with chemical and biological engineering principles, Dr. Garcea and Dr. Randolph enabled radical improvements to vaccine thermostability and dosing.

The result of their work is the ALTA™ platform, which reformulates vaccines for extended shelf life, allowing them to be easily transported anywhere in the world, or stockpiled, with enormous potential benefit to both routine immunization campaigns and emergency scenarios. VitraVax uses a spray drying process to embed antigens and adjuvants in a sugar-glass matrix, protecting them against thermal and chemical degradation at temperatures as high as 70° Celsius (158° Fahrenheit) for months, as demonstrated in multiple mouse studies using HPV capsomeres as a model antigen, as well as in multiple studies with commercial partners. This approach eliminates the need for cold storage and complex distribution logistics, and reduces waste associated with vaccines that have limited shelf lives.

ALTA™ also leverages atomic layer deposition (ALD) to apply nanometer-thick, precision coatings of protective metal oxides on the surface of antigen- and adjuvant-containing spray-dried microparticles. This approach provides timed release of doses up to six months after injection, also demonstrated in the same studies. If successfully translated into humans, this approach would enable the incorporation of a primary dose and booster doses in a single shot, and could potentially facilitate co-administration of multiple vaccines at the same time.

VitriVax is pleased to announce the publication of the paper “Single-Administration, Thermostable Human Papillomavirus Vaccines Prepared With Atomic Layer Deposition Technology” in the Nature journal npj Vaccines.

The study was funded in part by the NIH and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and was conducted in the University of Colorado laboratories of our co-founders, Bob Garcea and Ted Randolph.   The data demonstrate the effectiveness in mice of a single-shot human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine using VitriVax’s groundbreaking vaccine formulation platform.

Traditional HPV vaccines require strict refrigeration to maintain their efficacy, and 2-3 doses must be administered over the course of months for full immunization.  The VitriVax formulated HPV vaccine demonstrated in this study is thermostable at over 50°C (122°F) for months without loss of efficacy.  Further, because the VitriVax combined dose technology provides timed release of a booster dose weeks after injection, only a single injection the VitriVax HPV vaccine formulation is required for full immunization.
